The Committee considered the sixth periodic report of Namibia (CEDAW/C/NAM/6) at its 1887th and 1888th meetings (see CEDAW/C/SR.1887 and 1888) held on 17 June 2022. E. Principal areas of concern and recommendations

Health

    1. The Committee notes the progress reported in decreasing the mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS and the high availability of HIV/AIDS test kits. The Committee notes with concern:

      (e)Women’s limited access to sexual and reproductive health care, including for women with disabilities, indigenous women and lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex women;

    2. The Committee recalls its general recommendation No. 24 (1999) on women and health and recommends that the State party:

      (e) Ensure safe and appropriate access to sexual and reproductive health services free from discrimination, and disseminate information and clinical resource material to medical practitioners and to women, including women with disabilities, indigenous women and lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex women;
