On the 30th – 31st of March 2017 in Vienna the first OII Europe community event took place. During the event 28 Intersex people from 16 Council of Europe member states came together to share their experiences, and their objectives and strategies for the full implementation of human rights, bodily integrity, self determination and societal acceptance of intersex people within Europe.
This is a joint consensus statement by Australian and Aotearoa/New Zealand intersex organisations and independent advocates, in March 2017. It sets out the priorities and calls by the intersex human rights movement in these countries.
Germany (CEDAW 09-03-2017) - The Committee considered the combined seventh and eighth periodic reports of Germany (CEDAW/C/DEU/7-8) at its 1482nd and 1483rd meetings (see CEDAW/C/SR.1482 and CEDAW/C/SR.1483), held on 21 February 2017. The Committee’s list of issues and questions is contained in CEDAW/C/DEU/Q/7-8 and the responses of Germany are contained in CEDAW/C/DEU/Q/7-8/Add.1.
Ireland (CEDAW 09-03-2017) - The Committee considered the combined sixth and seventh periodic reports of Ireland (CEDAW/C/IRL/6-7) at its 1474th and 1475th meetings (see CEDAW/C/SR.1474 and 1475), held on 15 February 2017.
El Salvador (CEDAW 09-03-2017) - The Committee considered the combined eighth and ninth periodic reports of El Salvador (CEDAW/C/SLV/8-9) at its 1478th and 1479th meetings (see CEDAW/C/SR.1478 and 1479), held on 17 February 2017. The Committee’s list of issues and questions is contained in CEDAW/C/SLV/Q/8-9 and the responses of El Salvador are contained in CEDAW/C/SLV/Q/8-9/Add.1.
Namibia (CAT 01-02-2017) - The Committee against Torture considered the second periodic report of Namibia (CAT/C/NAM/2) at its 1478th and 1481st meetings (see CAT/C/SR.1478 and 1481), held on 18 and 21 November 2016, and adopted the present concluding observations at its 1496th meeting, held on 1 December 2016.
The Committee on Bioethics of the Council of Europe commissioned this study to identify potential areas of heightened concern for the rights of children that may be unfavorably affected by scientific advances and uncertainties in biomedicine. This report is the result of that study.
Argentina (CERD 11-01-2017) - The Committee considered the combined twenty-first to twenty-third periodic reports of Argentina, submitted in one document (CERD/C/ARG/21-23), at its 2490th and 2491st meetings (see CERD/C/SR.2490 and 2491), held on 22 and 23 November 2016. At its 2506th and 2507th meetings, held on 2 and 5 December 2016, it adopted the present concluding observations.
Ecuador (CAT 11-01-2016) - The Committee against Torture considered the seventh periodic report of Ecuador (CAT/C/ECU/7) at its 1462nd and 1465th meetings (see CAT/C/SR.1462 and 1465), held on 8 and 9 November 2016, and adopted the present concluding observations at its 1490th meeting, held on 28 November 2016.
