Netherlands (CEDAW 24-11-2016) - The Committee considered the sixth periodic report of the Netherlands (CEDAW/C/NLD/6) at its 1457th and 1458th meetings, on 10 November 2016 (see CEDAW/C/SR.1457 and 1458). South Africa (CRC 27-10-2016) - The Committee considered the second periodic report of South Africa (CRC/C/ZAF/2) at its 2141st and 2142nd meetings (see CRC/C/SR.2141 and 2142), held on 19 September 2016, and adopted the present concluding observations at its 2160th meeting (see CRC/C/SR.2160), held on 30 September 2016.
Speaking ahead of Intersex Awareness Day on 26 October, a group of United Nations and international human rights experts is calling for an urgent end to human rights violations against intersex children and adults. They urge Governments to prohibit harmful medical practices on intersex children, including unnecessary surgery and treatment without their informed consent, and sterilization.
New Zealand (CRC 21-10-2016) - The Committee considered the fifth periodic report of New Zealand (CRC/C/NZL/5) at its 2138th and 2139th meetings (see CRC/C/SR.2138 and 2139), held on 15 and 16 September 2016, and adopted the present concluding observations at its 2160th meeting, held on 30 September 2016.
Italy (CRPD 06-10-2016) - The Committee considered the initial report of Italy (CRPD/C/ITA/1) at its 283rd and 284th meetings (see CRPD/C/SR.283 and 284), held on 24 and 25 August 2016. It adopted the present concluding observations at its 294th meeting, held on 1 September 2016.
Uruguay (CRPD 30-09-2016) - The Committee considered the initial report of Uruguay (CRPD/C/URY/1) at its 269th and 270th meetings (see CRPD/C/SR.269 and 270), held on 15 and 16 August 2016, respectively. At its 288th meeting, held on 29 August 2016, it adopted the following concluding observations.
