Privacy policy

1. Privacy policy of the intersexrights.org website

The website intersexrights.org (hereinafter: the website) is owned and operated by the NNID Foundation, the Dutch organisation for sex diversity, further referred to as the NNID or ‘the Foundation’. Read the contact page for information on how to contact NNID Foundation.

2. Logging and processing of data: NNID will only use your data, to the extent that you already provide it, for communication between NNID and you. Your data will not be passed on to third parties.

3. Comments: As far as it is possible to comment on articles, these will be logged on Facebook.com. NNID has no influence on what happens to your data there. If you object, you can also send your comments to Miriam van der Have (miriam.vanderhave@nnid.nl). Relevant comments will be posted with the Facebook account of NNID, where only your first name will be mentioned. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

4. Use of cookies: The website may make use of so-called ‘cookies’. These are small text files that are stored on your computer. Cookies are used, among other things, to make information entered on a web page accessible to another web page. Cookies can also be used to gain insight into the popularity of web pages. During the first visit, the possibility is offered to disable the storage of cookies – after disabling only one cookie will be stored for this setting on the website. Turning off cookies may limit the use of our website and services.

5. Security: In order to protect the website against misuse, we use Google reCAPTCHA. This service is subject to Google’s terms of service and privacy policy.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

6. External links and embedded content:  NNID is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of websites referred to through external links. Websites published under the responsibility of the Foundation are excluded from this rule. The fact that a website is referred to does not mean that NNID agrees with the information on that website. Nor is it intended as a recommendation for services and products that may be offered on the website to which is linked.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
